What’s the story?
Synopsis
It’s the future: climate change has continued to take its toll on the planet. It’s only a matter of time before Earth is completely uninhabitable. But not to worry. VITA is an exciting new company that promises to, for a small fee, relocate you and your loved ones to a newly discovered earth-like planet, untouched and uncorrupted by man. BRUNO, however, is skeptical and very much resistant to the idea. It is when his life takes an unexpected turn that relocating to a new planet definitely seems like a decent option.
Year: 2022
What’s the project?
VITA marked the directorial debut of Nuno Vilela Figueiredo and was produced in Portugal with an international crew, bringing together professionals from Spain, Brazil, and beyond. The short film was shot in Lisbon and featured over 15 different nationalities on set, making it a true project of global collaboration.
The project had its premiere with a cinema screening in Lisbon before starting its international festival run in 2023, where it received awards and several honorable nominations.
VITA is a scientific thriller that tackles the issue of global warming while delivering a sharp critique of overpopulation, questioning the government narratives that claimed to have it under control.
